Peptidia’s Source Strength Score: what it says and what it cannot say
A transparent explanation of evidence tiers, directness, study quality, consistency, and why no single score can replace reading the sources.
Direct answer
Direct answer
Peptidia’s Source Strength Score is an editorial navigation aid that summarizes the strongest relevant evidence type and important quality limits. It is not a clinical recommendation, probability of benefit, or safety rating. Readers should use it to decide which sources to inspect next, not as a substitute for them.
What matters
- Evidence type and evidence quality are related but not identical.
- The score is claim-specific and cannot be transferred across outcomes.
- Directness, bias, precision, consistency, and independence can change the interpretation.
- The underlying citations and editorial rationale remain primary.
Why Peptidia uses a visible hierarchy
Readers need a quick way to distinguish a mechanism observed in cells from an outcome tested in people. The score makes that evidence stage legible before a claim is read as if every citation carried equal weight.
The hierarchy is informed by established evidence frameworks, but it is adapted for navigation in an encyclopedia rather than used as a formal guideline recommendation system.
What modifies the source tier
Study design is only the starting point. Risk of bias, population match, formulation, outcome relevance, missing data, precision, consistency, sponsor influence, and independent replication all affect confidence.
A careful randomized trial may be indirect for a wellness claim, while a high-quality laboratory study can be strong evidence for a narrow molecular observation. The claim defines relevance.
How to use the score responsibly
Read the score together with the evidence-maturity label, uncertainty statement, strongest-source note, and review date. Open the linked sources for claims that matter.
Do not convert the score into a recommendation, safety guarantee, or personal decision rule. Peptidia does not produce regimens or individualized clinical guidance.
